AMPHE-SENSE POLYIMIDE FLEXIBLE HEATERS

Due to the world’s increasing demand for data processing power and high speed communications, today’s networks and infrastructures are continually challenged to increase their bandwidth.

BACKGROUND Due to the world’s increasing demand for data processing power and high speed communications, today’s networks and infrastructures are continually challenged to increase their bandwidth. The transfer of information through the use of the internet, cell phones, and streaming video is expanding exponentially. Improvements to our infrastructure are being addressed through the use of fiber optics.

PROBLEM Data today is primarily transferred through networks using traditional copper wire which is limited on its bandwidth and ability to handle the massive amounts of data being required. Fiber optic networks and devices are being developed to address these bandwidth limitations. In order for the unit to provide optimal performance, the temperature must be maintained at 40°C.

SOLUTION Amphenol’s solution to the problem is through the use of polyimide heater flexes. Amphenol heater flexes provide highly efficient and accurate heat transfer to a localized area keeping the fiber optics at a stable 40°C. The thin, lightweight nature of heater flexes make them ideal for applications with spacing and weight limitations. The ability to create virtually any custom profile allows the heaters to be seamlessly integrated
